It includes multiple 'cores' (multiple emulators) for arcade games. At the time I'm writing this, it includes the following: FinalBurn Neo, HBMAME, MAME 2003, MAME 2003-Plus, MAME 2010, MAME 2015, and MAME 2016. This selection of cores is valuable when it comes to getting old arcade ROMs to work. Over time, MAME (originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus. This is the (unofficial) subreddit.
